Overview
In 2020 Michelle engaged with the landscape of Arthur Boyd’s home via the artist in residence program. The riverbend series documents a fundamental turning of the corner on embracing her personal queer and disabled identities, whilst figuratively exploring the movement of water through the curves of the powerful Shoal Haven River. A reflection of how her work straddles both interior and external landscapes. As she turns away from oppressive social narratives to embrace wholly herself, the work mimics the movement of water coursing forward as she takes control of her narrative.
